People from every corner of the globe are suffering from it. Practically speaking, we are the responsible causes for the manifestation  of Piles or Hemorrhoids. Just imagine we often used to pass more than ten minutes in the toilet whereas evacuation of stool needs only few seconds. As we are not going to pass ten kilograms of stool at a time, so there is no need to sit for a longer time and giving pressure to concentrated lower opening. Such habits are called bad habits or habits causing lifestyle disorders. It is just a simple example of piles triggering causes. So let know more about it.

Hemorrhoids:

Hemorrhoids cushions are a part of normal human anatomy. Hemorrhoids cushions are some vascular contents or structures which are helpful is stool movement and evacuation. But due to some causes they started to increase in size and grows just like grapes in the anal canal and only in such cases they starts some pathology and then only termed as Piles. They are nothing but varicose rectal veins or obstructed blood flow. When stool starts moving downwards in the presence of Piles then anal pressure forces them to move downwards, and such pressure creates fissure or cut in the folds of their attachment base with anal canal and starts bleeding. They are of two types,

  • External Piles

  •     Lethargy, Sleepy feeling
  •     Itching in the anal orifice
  •     Some foul smelling with yellowish discharge may come out in cases of long lasting untreated cases
  •     Patients mainly in young children suffers from fear while going to toilet.
  •     Fear for toilet further triggers constipation.

Causes

  •     Suppression of natural Urges

  •     Repeated diarrhoea for a long period

  •     Hepatomegaly Or Splenomegaly
  •     Fissure
  •     Any foreign body trauma (any ingested foreign body during passing out or any foreign body anal insertion )
  •     Intake of dry and spicy food.
  •     Healthiamensis or Worm Infestation.
  •     Hereditary

Investigations:

  •     Digital rectal examination
  •     Proctosocpy with a  Proctoscope (We should remember this instrument can also worsen the case by injury to that part, how far digital rectal examination is the best.)
  •     Verbal description and symptoms based clinical diagnosis.
  •     Stool Routine Examination.
  •     Urine Routine Examination

Complications:

  •     Prolapse
  •     Fistula
  •     Anemia (due to regular blood loos )
  •     Jaundice
  •     Sever Weakness
  •     Sever Bleeding
  •     Dyspnoea

Home Remedies

  • Eating freshly cooked food is helpful. Spices like cumin seeds, coriander, turmeric powder, fennel and asafetida is good as it makes the food easily digestible.
  • Proper chewing of food is very important.
  • Take plenty of leafy vegetables and salads.
  • Drinking a glass of warm milk at the time of going to bed helps in evacuation, the next morning. In the case of severe constipation mixing two teaspoons full of castor oil in the milk is very helpful.
  • Taking lemon juice mixed with warm water two or three times a day also cleans the bowels.
  • Glass lukewarm milk with 10 grams ghee at bedtime will also help.
  • Take fruits, fruit juices, leafy and green vegetables.
  • Whole grain bread can take.
  • Intake of buttermilk is beneficial when taken with black salt.
  • Never Suppress natural urges.
  • Avoid excessive tea or coffee.
  • Unpolished rice can take moderately.
  • Fried foods and beans should avoid. Vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli are not good. Nuts and dry fruits should also avoid.
  • It is very much necessary to form a habit of evacuating early morning. Regular physical exercise is also important for having clear bowels. One should try to relax the mind, free from anxiety, stress, etc.
  • Local application of Drumstick leaves.
  • Local application of Neem leaves.
  • Intake of Isabagul 2tsf at bedtime.
  • Local application with Kapoor and Ghee.

Essential Home Works

  • Hip bath is very useful. Simply in a tub of warm water give some Povidine Iodine lotion and mix it and sit on that tub 4/5 times a day.
  • Take plenty amount of fluid orally.
  • Sever spend more than two minutes in toilet.
  • Let you stool to come spontaneously never give pressure.
  • Make regular habit and time schedule for entering to the toilet.

All cases are can’t be treated only with oral and local drugs. Oral medicines and local applications are very useful in very early stages, and maintenance causes but in many advanced cases where there is no way other than Surgical intervention. Ayurveda is also having a wonderful surgical method for piles named as Ksharasutra. It is very much effective, and the re-occurrence chances are quite low. It is always better to consult with your doctor in the earlier stages.
