Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH): Ayurvedic & Herbal Treatment.

It is a disease of aged man, which is prevailing all over the world and common in all sections of modern society. It is so common but unfortunately always diagnosed after developing symptoms. It is commonly seen after crossing 45+ years of normal life (Occasionally seen even before that). Half of cases are seen in the people aging more than 70+ years. It looks like a normal structural change in the prostate gland due hormonal (decreased androgen level) changes with the flow of aging process.

Symptoms:

Normally our prostate gland surrounds in the junction of urethra and bladder. In the diseased condition means when BPH occurs the prostate gland used to swollen or enlarge in size. Normally it weighs about 12-16 grams. When it became enlarged, it used to compress the bladder urethral opening and urethra. As we all know the bladder is the storage tank of urine and urethra is the outlet, but when BPH occurs then an outlet obstruction occurs and for which the following symptoms develops.
  • Your urine stream or flow will be weak.
  • Elderly persons having prolonged untreated BPH if wishes to urinate in standing position then the stream used to fall in his feet.
  • You will not satisfy even after urinating.
  • Always a feeling that you need to urinate.
  • Always you will feel heaviness in your bladder.
  • Dripping of urine is very common in elderly cases.
  • Feels better while urinating if he stands.
  • Disturbs night sleeps due to recurrent urges of urination.
  • Sometimes you will start urinate abut it used to stop suddenly.
  • Complete block of the outlet (urethra) where you will need a medical attendance.
  • Recurrent infection in the Urinary track.
  • Tense and Tender Bladder
  • Constipation is commonly seen together.
  • Fever with Chill and rigor in case of severe infection.

  • Stool Routine Examination

Home Remedies & Home Works

  • Plenty amount of fluid orally (6/7 liters per day) and it will reduce the concentration of waste products in the residual urine. Such habit is also good for fighting against upcoming urinary tract infection.
  • Practice for urination means always try to urinate as much as you can and make it a habit.
  • Make a habit of avoiding liquids at least one hour before going to bed then it will not disturb you in sleep.
  • Alternate hot and cold-water compression in the bladder area that gives some relief.
  • Avoid Alcohol as because it used to increase the frequency of urination. So try to say tata to Alcohol.
  • Ask your doctor or goggle regarding your medicines to know that, whether they are renal toxic or not. Because in prolong cases patients often suffers from hydronephrosis and in that condition taking of such medicine will be harmful. Many modern and Ayurvedic medicines may be toxic to your renal tissues.
  • Take some luke warm water in a big sized bowel (Where you can sit ) and then sit on that bowel the whole process known in medical science as Hip Bath.
  • Decoction of the bark of Varun (Crataeva nurvala) is very effective in controlling the growth of Prostate.
  • Curcumin is an anti-inflammatory agent that has been shown to have potent anticarcinogenic properties, chemical found in Curcumin slow the progression of prostate cancer by blocking the receptors, which accelerated cell growth,
  • Goukshur (Tribulus terrestris) powder is very useful for maintaining a good urine flow.
  • Juice of Punarnava is very useful in the untreated cases where there is a chance of hydronephrosis or complicated renal disorders.
  • Green tea is rich of anti-oxidants shows good results in treatment of prostate growth.
  • Juice of Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa) and Pashanbhaed (Bergenia ciliata) is very good in associated UTI cases.
  • Ginger juice having antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative properties, in studies it is found that ginger root extracts can kill prostate cancer cells & the phytochemicals found in ginger can block growth factors of prostate cancer.
