Conjunctivitis (Pinkeye); Symptoms, Causes, Home Remedies, Herbal Medicines Available In The Market,

       One of the most common eye disease world wide. It also  known as pinkeye. It is a contagious disease and it’s viral category  spreads very rapidly. Other than oral or topical antibiotics there are few herbal preparation and preventive measures which we can do at home. Keeping that aim I posting this article on Conjunctivitis.
What is it ?
       The inflammatory condition of our conjunctiva (White area of our eye) is known as conjunctivitis. In case of Viral conjunctivitis it out breaks as epidemic. 

Symptoms:

  • Redness of conjunctiva means the white area of your eye including the inner eye lids..
  • Itching and tearing automatically
  • Difficulty in vision.
  • Difficulty in sun light and vision seems blur.
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Burning sensation
  • Excessive yellow discharge that crusts over the eyelashes and most seen in the morning.

Causes:

  • Viral infection (Most Commonest and spreads very rapidly )
  • Bacterial Infection (seen as a consequences after any injury or infection)
  • Chlamydial Infection (common in new born)
  • Dust and pollution very common in industrial areas.
  • Irritant smoke
  • Some particular pollens from which some people are severely sensitive
  • Contact lenses user.

Home Remedies:

  • Cold compresses or warm compresses (whichever feels best) can be used from beginning.
  • Washing with Triphala decoction
  • Wash with cold water then apply Rose water for washing (After dilute in sterile water)
  • Wash the yellow sticky discharge with a pic of cotton socked in luke warm normal saline.
  • Better to stay at home unless the redness disappears.
  • Use a black or dark sun glass if you have to go in any emergency.
  • It is contagious (Viral Conjunctivitis )so better to keep your self and your used materials aside from other family members.
  • Triphala decoction with cow’s ghee is beneficial.
